Ed Sheeran is one hell of a musician, which is why most people would never turn down a song written by the pop star. But every once a while, the singer keeps the good stuff for himself, even if that means leaving someone like Rihanna on the outs.

Sheeran just released two fanatic tracks titled “Shape of You” and “Castle on the Hill,” but per the British pop star, he wrote “Shape of You” with Rihanna in mind. “We were writing the song and I was like, ‘This would really work for Rihanna,’” Sheeran said while on the BBC Radio 1 Breakfast Show.

He continued, “I started singing lyrics like ‘putting Van the Man on the juke box’ and I was like, ‘She’s not really going to sing that, is she?’ And then we sort of decided halfway through that we were just gonna make it for me.”

We are sure there are no hard feelings, but the track would indeed have worked for the Barbadian beauty.

Another pop star loving the track, none other that Taylor Swift, who wrote on Instagram: “OH MY GOD OKAY IT’S HAPPENING,” she wrote. “EVERYBODY STAY CALM.”
