Following the heartbreaking passing of actress Mary Tyler Moore, millions of fans and fellow celebrities around the world took to social media platforms to remember the iconic television star. But there is one that sticks out above the rest.

Oprah Winfrey posted an emotional tribute letter on Instagram to the comedian who died on Wednesday at the age of 80, thanking her for the contributions she made to the industry.

“Dear Mary, You already know how you majorly influenced my life and career,” Winfrey wrote. “I respected and admired your business acumen, your passion and compassion for all life, and most importantly, the values espoused through your storytelling. Thank you for being a Light that shined so brightly, it let me see myself in you.”

Oprah also tweeted: “Even now looking at this picture I want to cry. I still can’t believe Mary Tyler Moore touched my face. Will love her 4 ever.”

Winfrey is just one of thousands of women to be inspired by Moore, who led the way for many female comedians. In fact, Moore, most known for her role on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, was the first female actor to wear pants on a sitcom.

Moore’s cause of death has yet to be revealed.
