The 2017 Screen Actors Guild Awards are in less than 24 hours and HipHollywood got a sneak peek behind one of the biggest awards shows of the season.

Of course there wouldn’t be an awards show without a red carpet — but have you ever considered what goes behind laying down the carpet masterpiece that every star walks across?

On Friday morning, crew members laid out the near 2000 feet of carpet and we were there to watch it all in action. The actual rollout of the carpet was tackled by none other than Underground star, Jurnee Smollett Bell, Black-ish star Marcus Scribner and SAG committee member, Grey’s Anatomy star, Jason George.

“We just want to have actors celebrating actors. It springs up an entire industry around this thing, the red carpet. Everyone wants to know who is wearing what.”

And while the night always starts on the carpet, it’s inside where the real magic happens. Following the coveted awards show, Hollywood’s biggest stars will make their way backstage for one of the biggest after parties of the year. This year’s theme: Paris.

“That’s going to be the most lit after party of all time,” Marcus told us while at the carpet rollout.

Black-ish is nominated in several categories, including Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series and Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series all thanks to Anthony Anderson’s role as Dre Johnson.

According to Scribner, the celebration will be non-stop if the multi-nominated sitcom pulls out a few wins. And yes, that includes a series of dance moves at the Parisian themed after soiree. “We’ve got dabbing, we’ve got hitting the folks, we’ve got popping locking, we’ve got the robot. It’s gonna be nice,” explained Marcus.

The SAG Awards air on TNT/TBS on Sunday January 29 at 5pm.

Will also snapped some fun flicks with his son Jaden before greeting fans and speaking with reporters including HipHollywood.

He told HipHollywood that he was super excited to reunite with his Suicide Squad director David Ayer for the film, and would “work with him whenever he wants to.

“I love his madness how he creates,” gushes Smith. “How he thinks about scenes, the way he works with actors, it’s some of the best psychological work of any director I’ve ever worked with.”

In the film Smith plays an LAPD cop in a mythical world of orcs, elves and fairies … and Ayer told us, he couldn’t think of anyone better for the role.

“We had such a good time on Suicide Squad together and this role is kind of perfect for him, it’s an edgy movie, buts it’s funny. He’s got the best sense of humor of anybody I know.”

BRIGHT debuts on Netflix December 22. Peep the newest trailer below.
