“Now, we are feeling what not having hope feels like.” Michelle Obama, you ain’t neva lied!
The First Lady sat down with Lady O and expressed that sentiment and many others when reflecting on her husband’s time in office and looking ahead to a Trump presidency. Mrs. Obama, speaking candidly with Oprah Winfrey, continued, “Hope is necessary. It’s a necessary concept and Barack didn’t just talk about hope because he thought it was just a nice slogan to get votes. He and I and so many believe that — what else do you have if you don’t have hope? What do you give your kids if you can’t give them hope?”
It was a 90-minute chat, which had to be edited down for broadcast, where Michelle said farewell to The White House exclusively with Winfrey. The special is set to air Monday on CBS at 8 p.m. ET and then again on OWN on Dec. 21 at 9 p.m. ET.
