Issa Rae has become one of the most talked about entertainers in Hollywood. Sure, the beauty’s YouTube series Awkward Black Girl was praised by fans around the world, but it’s the star’s latest HBO series Insecure that’s taking the Issa buzz to another level.

Season 1 of Rae’s hit show wrapped on Sunday night and you might’ve noticed the barrage of comments and memes on social media about the events that unfolded on the 30-minute episode, specifically: (PLOT SPOILER) Issa’s boyfriend, Lawrence, played by Jay Ellis, and his decision to have sex with another woman.

Folks on the Internet were shocked and some even proud of the character’s actions, so naturally, the memes started to roll in at eye-shattering speed. We were all grateful for the creative social media users who managed to keep us entertained with the hilarious comments, and it turns out, Issa was also a fan.

While on the red carpet for the EBONY Power 100 Gala on Thursday night, Rae, who was being honored, revealed to HipHollywood exclusively that “we started in the writers room the next day after the finale so we were supposed to be all focused, but we were all on our phones like, ‘did you see this one, did you see this one?”

She added, “People are really taking and running with it, which, you dream of that.”

The finale episode was one hell of a storyline, leaving, of course, a cliffhanger that has us all chomping at the bit for the return of Season 2. But when asked what we can expect when the show returns, Rae played coy. “You gotta watch to find out,” she said. “We are definitely going to answer all the questions that people have, but we just want to tell a honest, true to life story.”

The Los Angeles native added, “So think about what happened in your life and that will probably play out.”

Watch: Julia Roberts And Owen Wilson Give Advice To Their 10-Year-Old Selves

To say Wonder is a must see movie is an understatement! Not only will the film touch you and inspire you to be a better person, it will also entertain you from start to finish.

But don’t take our word for it. HipHollywood sat down with the film’s stars Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson who shared their excitement to bring this heartwarming story to life and how they channeled their real-life parenting skills into the role.

“I think we felt a responsibility to be authentically parents and authentically parents to these two kids, said the 50 year old mother of three. “And I think that’s why you really believe these four people are family and are really having this experience together.”

In the film based on the NY times best seller, Roberts and Wilson play the parents of a teenage daughter (Izabela Vidovic) and 10-year-old boy (Jacob Tremblay) with facial differences entering mainstream elementary school for the first time.

When asked if they had any advice for their ten year old selves, Roberts said: “I have a ten year old son and I tell him to run.”

Meanwhile Wilson says he remembers 5th grade vividly, and enjoyed having his brother Andrew Wilson at the same school to protect him. “It helped so much having an older brother who was already at the school, so that would be the advice I’d give, have a cool older brother.”

Wonder hits theaters November 17, just one day before Wilson’s 49th birthday.
