Folks around the world are taking the new viral mannequin challenge to a new level.
The mannequin challenge is an Internet trend that challenges social media users and large groups to pose like mannequins — basically, to freeze in time.
This week, however, on the heels of Donald Trump being elected the 45th president of the United States, a powerful mannequin challenge has hit the Web and is touching the lives of thousands on social media.
Black In Blue Feature Films produced and released an absolute masterpiece — having men and women recreate the horrific and tragic police killings across this country which ultimately led to the hundreds of Black Lives Matter protests.
Kevin Hart’s ex-wife, Torrei Hart, stars alongside a group of social media influencers including Simone Shepherd, in a new-age retelling of how Trayvon Martin was targeted and innocently killed; how Philando Castile’s life was taken by an officer who had sworn to protect and serve him; and even the mistreatment of the late Sandra Bland, who was harassed, assaulted and then arrested during a routine traffic stop.
The video then takes a hard look into the thousands of people fighting for reform and speaking out against the social injustices of Black people in America. “We will continue to Stand for justice and create change through our Art,” the caption of the video reads.
Several celebrities have commented on the video, including Flex Alexander, who called this the “most meaningful mannequin challenge” and Cedric the Entertainer who wrote: “Powerful!!!!! Big ups to those that created this unique piece of art!!!”
Back in September, following the tragic shooting deaths of Terence Crutcher, Keith Lamont Scott and Alfred Olango, Cedric led a Power in Action march through Hollywood, California.
