New York rapper Bobby Shmurda will spend the next seven years in prison minus the 21 months he’s already been behind bars. Bobby was sentenced today on a gun possession charge. Shmurda tried to withdraw a plea deal he agreed to last month, but Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Abraham Clott denied his request and sentenced him anyway.

Things inside the courtroom got a bit tense when the rapper turned to his lawyer and expressed his displeasure with the plea deal. “I want to drop my plea and fire you … Why are you telling me to waive my rights? I am not waiving my rights.”

Shmurda has maintained that the gun he was caught carrying on his person was a prop for a music video.
