Emmy Award-winning actress Viola Davis was nominated for another Emmy Award on Sunday night for her dramatic role on ABC’s How To Get Away With Murder. What we are now learning is that Davis’ acting chops run in the family and might be rubbing off on her 6-year-old daughter, Genesis.

Davis appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Monday and shared that her daughter is a bit more dramatic than most six-year-olds. During her chat with DeGeneres, Viola explained how over the top Genesis’ reaction was after being told she couldn’t attend Beyonce’s Lemonade tour.

“Her latest thing is Beyonce,” Davis said. “She wanted to go to a Beyonce concert and we said, ‘No, you cannot go to Beyonce, Genesis.'”

According to Viola, Genesis “went, ‘Noooooo, you don’t know what Lemonade means to me, Mommy. You don’t know what Beyonce means to my life.'”

Viola added, “Well, you better remember how to go to school. Then at 18, you need to remember how to get out of the house and pay your own bills.”
