Finaaaalllllyyyyy … the wait is over! Frank Ocean has officially released a new project, but the question is, was it worth the wait?
On Thursday night, Ocean dropped a visual album titled “Endless,” a 45-minute project complete with 18 tracks. The album is available for streaming on Apple Music exclusively and is very similar to Beyonce’s visual for Lemonade.
The black and white video starts off with Ocean inside what appears to be major warehouse with construction equipment covering a small portion of the otherwise empty room. Immediately, the singer goes into a beautiful cover of the Isley Brothers’ “At Your Best (You Are Love),” which was also famously covered by the late Aaliyah.
So what exactly is he building? A spiral staircase being created in the middle of the room.
This is the first project Ocean has released since his last album in 2012, Channel Orange. The release of the anticipated LP is a major deal given we first thought the artist would drop something over a year ago, and then again, last month.
But while we waited all this time, we might be getting two in one shot. It’s being reported that the singer will be dropping part two of the album this weekend.
Folks have been sharing their thoughts about the album on Twitter — many excited that he has finally delivered something, others irritated that the visual album is a construction zone.
