Nick Cannon is about to be schooled … literally.  The Wild ‘N Out host has enrolled as a freshman at Howard University, and attended his first day of class Monday.

Cannon, 35, announced the news via his Instagram page over the weekend, rocking a pair of fresh Timberland boots and Louis Vuitton backpack. “You Know!!!! #HU2020. My First Day as a Freshman!!! Howard University Class of 2020.”

Cannon told Page Six of the decision to get his degree:

I am always seeking new challenges and continual growth and decided to obtain my first college degree from an institution that had a proven legacy of producing great minds. I have friends, mentors and colleagues who attended Howard University. I have heard about the famed Howard Homecoming since I was a kid growing up in California and knew that Howard would be the perfect place for me to further my education. I look forward to this new journey in my life and am excited about the possibilities ahead.

Despite his celebrity status, the father of two went through the same application process as everyone else. “No one gets special treatment, no matter who they are,” a source told the magazine.

The University will, however, work with him on his schedule since he’ll be juggling television shows and other projects. Cannon will be a part of the communications school and is slated to graduate in 2020.

No word on if he plans on joining the school’s famed marching band. That’s a reference to his film Drumline for you kids born in the ’90s.

The Real Reason Jason Derulo Is Out Here Teaching Zumba Class

Published

Jason Derulo popped up at an L.A. Zumba class Tuesday night but he wasn’t there to take the class … he was there to teach it.

According to Forbes, Derulo has partnered with Zumba, who will be offering exclusive classes featuring choreography to his hit song “Tip-Toe” featuring French Montana.

To kick things off the 28-year-old showed up unannounced at Beat Box Studio LA to teach a few routines, and as you could imagine everyone was mad hype.

Perez Hilton and Youtube Fitness star Caleb Mitchell were amongst the 80 folks taking the class, which also included instructors and members of the University of Southern California dance team.

“What I love most about Zumba is that they make exercising fun and make it accessible to everyone all over the world. It’s a movement,” Derulo said. “They get great global rhythms and pair it with a routine everyone can do that will give you a total body workout that feels more like party than exercise. I admire that because you don’t typically associate dancing with working out and that’s the beauty of it.”

No word on if Derulo will be popping up at more classes, but if he does now you won’t be surprised.
