Oprah Winfrey’s New Role May Surprise You!
For Oprah, 2016 is the year of returning to acting.
The former talk show titan is consistently busy with OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, several charitable projects and many of ventures that we probably do even know about … not to mention she’s focused on dropping lbs with Weight Watchers. But now we can add two new acting gigs to her to-do list.
In addition to a recurring role on the new OWN show “Greenleaf”, Winfrey has also signed up to headline the new HBO Film “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks”. Based on Rebecca Skloot’s bestselling book of the same name, Lady O will not only star in the project, but she is listed among the executive producers for the film as well.
ComingSoon.net gave a brief description of the HBO movie:
The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks tells the true story of Henrietta Lacks, an African-American woman whose cells were used to create the first immortal human cell line. Told through the eyes of her daughter, Deborah Lacks (Oprah Winfrey), the film chronicles her search to learn about the mother she never knew and to understand how the unauthorized harvesting of Lacks’ cancerous cells in 1951 led to unprecedented medical breakthroughs, changing countless lives and the face of medicine forever. It’s a story of medical arrogance and triumph, race, poverty and deep friendship between the unlikeliest of people.
