Kelly Ripa Ditches ‘Live’ On Wednesday After Feeling Blindsided By Michael Strahan’s Exit
It was announced on Tuesday that Michael Strahan would be leaving Live! With Kelly and Michael to take on a full time position with ABC’s Good Morning America. But according to multiple reports, his co-star, Kelly Ripa was not aware of the major news.
Ripa did not show up on Wednesday to host she and Michael’s morning show and according to an insider, it’s because she felt “blindsided” by the news. Instead, Saturday Night Live alum Ana Gasteyer stood in for the 45-year-old. The source also revealed to ET that Ripa “may also take the rest of the week off.”
According to Michael, his last day hosting the show will be in September. “It is the same channel. I am not going anywhere,” Strahan said on Tuesday. “I consider myself to be a part of this family.”
“You still continued to give us your eyeballs, and watch this show,” he said. “Thank you guys. I couldn’t have asked for better fans at all. You guys have been absolutely amazing. On top of that, I have worked with an incredible staff here.”
As for who will replace Michael, Anderson Cooper, Andy Cohen and Neil Patrick Harris are just a few names floating around.
