For many, coming out of the closet is not an easy task. But for one man, the life changing moment turned into a headline all thanks to pop star, Rihanna.

Rihanna apparently secretly helped one Navy fan with the undertaking by giving him words of encouragement on Twitter. “Baby it’s ok to be scared, but it’s more important to be who you are! You don’t have a choice really,” she wrote after the fan tweeted her about his fears back in March.

Rihanna added, “That’s not a decision to be made! You are who you are, and as hard as it may seem, the best s**t ever is freedom and peace within yourself! Your family may not understand, but luckily you live in a generation that does!! And not to mention the community here amongst us, we will hold you down boo!!”

After taking Ri’s words of advice, the fan responded: “I finally came out to my second close friend over here 😉 I’m feeling so good Rih, thanks to you.”

According to BuzzFeed, the 28-year-old has been following the man’s journey as he slowly comes out to his loved ones. The man, who wanted to remain anonymous, also revealed to the news outlet that it is difficult to come out as a Black man, but “Rihanna’s messages have helped him realize that he shouldn’t be ashamed of who he is.”

The Navy member plans on being completely out of the closet by the time he meets Ri at her ANTI world tour in July.
