By now you’ve probably heard of the “new” hair trend called “Boxer Braids”.

Now, clearly these are nothing more than cornrows. You would also think it was clear that these have been around for centuries. But alas, in the wake of celebrities like Kim Kardashian (and all of her sisters AND her daughter) wearing the hairstyle, the melanin-deficient members of the media have renamed the look and deemed it the newest hair trend. Typical…

Of course, Black Twitter let them have it, pointing out that Black girls have been rocking cornrows since the dawn of man. But we here at HipHollywood went one step further and asked one of the stars of “Underground” if she felt the look equated to cultural appropriation or a simple misunderstanding. When asked her thoughts on the issue, Adina Porter responded, “I don’t care what they want to call it, we all know what it is … as a community we take something, and it could be nothing and make it amazing and the rest of the world wants it.”

Will also snapped some fun flicks with his son Jaden before greeting fans and speaking with reporters including HipHollywood.

He told HipHollywood that he was super excited to reunite with his Suicide Squad director David Ayer for the film, and would “work with him whenever he wants to.

“I love his madness how he creates,” gushes Smith. “How he thinks about scenes, the way he works with actors, it’s some of the best psychological work of any director I’ve ever worked with.”

In the film Smith plays an LAPD cop in a mythical world of orcs, elves and fairies … and Ayer told us, he couldn’t think of anyone better for the role.

“We had such a good time on Suicide Squad together and this role is kind of perfect for him, it’s an edgy movie, buts it’s funny. He’s got the best sense of humor of anybody I know.”

BRIGHT debuts on Netflix December 22. Peep the newest trailer below.
