Why TLC’s Chilli Is Threatening Wendy Williams

By  |

TLC’s Chilli is warning TV host Wendy Williams to keep the group’s name out of her mouth. Wendy brought up TLC while discussing Naughty by Nature’s recently launched KickStarter campaign. Like TLC, the rap group is asking fans to help them produce a new album by making a modest financial investment.

According to Williams, Naughty by Nature is in a different stratosphere than TLC and should be above asking for money. “TLC even though they’re legendary, I look at them in a different lane than I look at Naughty by Nature … there are certain people that are so legendary that you can just survive off your old music and tour for the rest of your life,” Wendy said during her show’s “Hot Topics” segement. Many took those words as Williams throwing subtle shade at TLC.

You can fast forward to the 22:20 mark to watch the controversial remarks.

Williams may have a reason for the slight though. According to the personality, her producer Norman donated money to TLC’s KickStarter, but never received what was promised to him. Norman claims he was supposed to receive a handwritten letter from Chilli and T-Boz, but only got a piece of paper with a list of song titles written on it. During their KickStarter campaign, TLC received $430,255 from 4,201 fans to put together a new album that still has not come out.

After hearing about the segment from a fan on Twitter, Chilli fired back at Wendy, saying the TV diva wouldn’t commit any of her brash trash talk in person.

Thank God for Wendy Williams…. They can clap back on Twitter ASAP but can’t release the album we paid for… Just admit it’s for their rent money and stop playin. Wendy has every right to expose this scam. If it were regular folks who pulled this they would be in jail.

I mean really you think TLC went out and bought shoes with your money? Come on let’s be grown folks and do research before we start getting impatient and scornful. These days we are used to shitty music being produced in a short amount of time but because TLC is actually trying to produce with essence, it’s going to be time consuming. Hell, Wendy Williams might even be in a plot to try and promote the album by talking about it.

Wow! Some people have no respect! TLC is legendary! They are still to this day is USA best selling female girl group ever! Their album CrazySexyCool remains the only album by a female singing group to receive the RIAA diamond award. U CANT BEAT THAT!! I don’t personally know much of naughty by nature’s music but I think that seeing any group/music artist having to reach out to their fans for help is sad. I’m from London, U.K. And I’m a huge fan of TLC and it broke me when I found out they had to do a Kickstarter, they above any female group should never have to do that as they are legendary and talented, they hold so many records that no one has even come close to breaking. Unfortunately the reason why many 1990’s artist need extra help is because of the poor record deals and abuse of power that was present at that time and so many artist feel into traps trusting the wrong people, there are many artists out there that should be multimillionaires but are surviving day to day because of the deceit of managers/producers. It’s such a shame that Wendy thinks it’s ok to disrespect such an amazingly talented and respected group in such a way, it just proves she not only has no manners but doesn’t know anything about TLC for her to say such comments. I know this is old news but sometimes u need to remind people that respecting others and honouring music legends doesn’t cost a penny so why would u not do it, even if ur not a fan.
Remember to appreciate all music and artists regardless if ur a fan as they have shared their gift with us and that is a true blessing in itself, that I would happily bless them back with donations for.
