Matt Barnes Says Perceived Derek Fisher Diss Wasn’t A Diss
Matt Barnes says he wasn’t throwing shade at Derek Fisher when he posted this picture of himself smirking on Instagram. Fisher was replaced as the New York Knicks head coach on Monday, and immediately following the news, Barnes blessed his IG followers with this gem.
The Memphis Grizzlies forward was asked by the press about posting the picture and shot down suggestions he was shading his rival. “I liked what I was wearing,” Barnes said. “That’s it. That’s all it was.”
“It kind of is what it is,” Barnes told the Daily News. “People assume what they want to assume. I learned my lesson from talking and doing what I did. I got fined a lot of money. So I just kind of stay out of that situation now.”
Fisher and Barnes got in a physical altercation last year after Barnes learned that his former teammate had been involved in a romantic relationship with his estranged wife, Gloria Govan.
