Ajak Deng Quits Modeling Business Because It’s “Fake”
Sudanese IMG model Ajak Deng says she’s done walking runways and posing in front of cameras because she’s tired of dealing with the “fakes and the lies.” The 26-year-old took to Instagram earlier this week to announce her retirement from the modeling industry.
Put your best foot forward. I am happy to announce that I am officially done with the fashion industry, I will be moving back to Australia In order to live the life that I fully deserved. Which is real life. I can no longer deal with the fakes and the lies. My life is too short for this dramatic life. I am thankful and grateful for every sweet souls that I have crossed path with. 😘😘✌🏿️🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿✌🏿✌🏿
Over the years, Deng has modeled for everyone from Marc Jacobs and Barneys New York to Tom Ford and David Yurman. She also made headlines in 2014 when she accused Balmain of dropping her from a show over her skin color. “F*ck you and f*ck you,” she tweeted at Balmain following the episode.
