Tyra Banks and her Norwegian photographer boyfriend, Erik Asla are officially parents to healthy baby boy, York Banks Asla.
The America’s Next Top Model creator shared the big news via social media Wednesday night and expressed her excitement in becoming a first time mom.
“The best present we worked and prayed so hard for is finally here,” Banks wrote on Instagram with a photo of a striped hat. “He’s got my fingers and big eyes and his daddy Erik’s mouth and chin.”
She continued, “As we thank the angel of a woman that carried our miracle baby boy for us, we pray for everyone who struggles to reach this joyous milestone. York Banks Asla, welcome to the world.”
Asla also shared the same photo on Instagram with the caption:
“Witnessing the dawn of life is quite possibly life’s greatest gift.”
After IVF procedures in hopes of conceiving, Banks and Asla turned to a gestational surrogate to help create new life.
The former FABLife host has always been open about her infertility struggles; in fact, the model broke down in tears back in September on the newly canceled daytime talk show. “I want to co-sign what Chrissy is saying and say ‘You have no idea what people are going through,'” Tyra said. “Why am I crying? You just have no idea what people are going through, so when you ask Chrissy that or me that or anybody that, it is none of your frigging business, okay?”
She added, “And for any women, it is none of your business what somebody is going through. Whether they want to have a child or don’t ever want to have a child or may have a child on the way, it’s none of your business, okay? Until somebody wants to make it your business.”
Congrats to the couple.
