You know the saying: “It never rains in Southern California.” But on Wednesday night, the rain hit hard, but the stormy weather didn’t stop celebrities from attending the 2016 People’s Choice Awards.

Hosted by Jane Lynch, the annual awards show was full of shocks, surprises and PDA.

HipHollywood was on the red carpet where Jason Derulo and his new boo, Daphne Joy, made their first public red carpet appearance together and they seemed to be quite smitten with each other. Derulo, who performed during the show, and 50 Cent’s baby’s mother publicly proclaimed their admiration for each other over the New Year while on vacation in South Beach.

Meanwhile, Meagan Good and her hubby, DeVon Franklin, got super affectionate. While on the carpet, the lovebirds shed some light on dating, something you can read about in the couple’s forthcoming relationship book, The Wait. “We use our journey of waiting until marriage to help people in their dating life, in relationships, in their love life to really find another way that you can date, where you can have peace and it helps your whole entire life,” Franklin told us exclusively.

It was also a special night for the cast of Straight Outta Compton, who was nominated for Favorite Dramatic Movie. Despite being trumped by The Martian for the coveted award, the crew was still humbled by the acknowledgement. “We just put our heart and soul what essentially for us was a small film.” Neil Brown Jr. who played DJ Yella in the film told us. “I felt like the people were gonna love it … but everybody love it.”

To say Wonder is a must see movie is an understatement! Not only will the film touch you and inspire you to be a better person, it will also entertain you from start to finish.

But don’t take our word for it. HipHollywood sat down with the film’s stars Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson who shared their excitement to bring this heartwarming story to life and how they channeled their real-life parenting skills into the role.

“I think we felt a responsibility to be authentically parents and authentically parents to these two kids, said the 50 year old mother of three. “And I think that’s why you really believe these four people are family and are really having this experience together.”

In the film based on the NY times best seller, Roberts and Wilson play the parents of a teenage daughter (Izabela Vidovic) and 10-year-old boy (Jacob Tremblay) with facial differences entering mainstream elementary school for the first time.

When asked if they had any advice for their ten year old selves, Roberts said: “I have a ten year old son and I tell him to run.”

Meanwhile Wilson says he remembers 5th grade vividly, and enjoyed having his brother Andrew Wilson at the same school to protect him. “It helped so much having an older brother who was already at the school, so that would be the advice I’d give, have a cool older brother.”

Wonder hits theaters November 17, just one day before Wilson’s 49th birthday.
