Draya Michele Reacts To Matt Barnes, Derek Fisher Altercation
Basketball Wives: LA star Draya Michele took to Twitter on Wednesday night to give her two cents regarding the recent fight between Memphis Grizzlies player, Matt Barnes and New York Knicks coach, Derek Fisher.
Draya spoke out on the social media website and put herself in the shoes of Matt, who as previously reported, confronted Fisher after learning the coach and former Lakers player was at the home he and his estranged wife, Gloria Govan still share.
What’s ironic about Draya making comments about the incident is her connection to the parties involved.
Follow us: Draya co-starred alongside Gloria and her sister, Laura on Baksetball Wives: LA Season 1. Draya and the Govan sisters, however, did not get along. Laura was once engaged to former NBA player, Gilbert Arenas, whom she shares four children with. But last week, an email leaked which was supposedly sent from Laura to Arenas, claiming that Arenas is the father of Draya’s son AND that he ordered her to get beat up.
According to reports, Arenas, who was basically Barnes’ brother-in-law, also reacted to the saga via Instagram. The former baller apparently shared a viral clip of a little girl running away from her shadow with the caption, “They said #DFish was running from @mattbarnes9 like this…matt came over the gate like #kungfupanda.”
This is all just two close for comfort.
On Thursday, Fisher addressed the incident during a pre-game press conference. He told reporters that he spoke with his team “to make sure … if they’re asked about it, they heard from me directly about my state of mind and how present I am.”
He added, “I’ve been through a lot in life. Sometimes we go through things we can’t or can control. I’m here. I’m focused. It’s not something that’s going to take me away from what we’re trying to do.”
Meanwhile, Barnes told ESPN on Thursday that he went to the home where his Gloria lives to check on their twin boys who initially sent a concerning text. “I’m like, first of all, why are you still up? It’s like 10 o’clock at night?’ ” Barnes said. “So I text back, ‘I love you and I miss you, too.’ Then I FaceTimed him. I’m just like, ‘Hey, what’s up buddy?'”
“Now, Carter is like the rambunctious one. He’s always jumping off the walls. And when I saw his face, he was just sitting there and I knew something was wrong. I was like, ‘What’s wrong, Carter?’ and he shook his head, ‘No.’ Then he lays his head down on the couch, puts a pillow in front of his face and says, ‘Mommy’s friend Derek is here.’
“This wasn’t a phone call. We were on FaceTime. I could see him and the look on his face.”
“I can’t believe people think I was some maniac driving 95 miles and listening to Tupac to go beat somebody up,” Barnes said about reports that he left Santa Barbara to confront Fisher.. “No. I live 15 minutes away and I was going over to check on my kids because they seemed uncomfortable. That was my main reason for going over there.”
The NBA is currently investigating the incident.
