It has been confirmed that Halle Berry and her husband, Olivier Martinez, of just two years are divorcing.

In a statement to PEOPLE, the couple said that they will “move forward with love and respect for one another and the shared focus of what is best for our son.” But while the split appears to be amicable, we wonder what was the real driving force behind the breakup.

Berry is sexy, talented and above all else, sweet as candy, at least that’s the front she puts off in public. As for Olivier, we’ve seen the French actor lose his cool in front of the paparazzi, but too, seems kind.

We can try to diagnose the duo’s internal problems, but will we ever know? Probably not. But one thing we do know is that Berry now has now had three failed marriages and several breakups, which may or may not be a reflection of her troubled childhood, which the star has spoken out about.

We aren’t therapists, but what we can do is give you a full breakdown of the Extant star’s public, troubled marriages and relationships.

March 1989-1991: Berry dated Chicago dentist John Ronan for two years, from 1989 to 1991. Although the reason for the split is unclear, in 1993, Ronan sued Berry for a whopping $80,000, claiming the money was unpaid loans she borrowed to help jumpstart her career. The case as later dismissed.

January 1993 – June 1997: Berry married former MLB player David Justice in January 1, 1993. The couple, however, separated in February 1996. At the time, Berry suggested that she was depressed and contemplated suicide. The divorce was finalized in 1997. But while the name has not been confirmed, several believe that David was the man who Berry claims hit her and busted her eardrum.

January 2001 – October 2003: After two years of dating, Berry married r&b crooner, Eric Benet in January 2001. But in 2003, the two separated. In 2005, the divorce was finalized. As for the split, all we know is that Benet was a sex addict and admitted to cheating on more than one occasion.

“Eric and I have had marital problems for some time now and have tried to work things out together,” the actress said through her publicist. “However, at this point, I feel we need time apart to re-evalute our union. We ask that you respect our privacy as we are going through this emotional time.”

Benet got treated for sex addiction in 2002.

November 2005 – July 2010: In November 2005, Halle started dating model, Gabriel Aubry. The two welcomed their first child together, Nahla, in 2008. Just two years later, however, the two split.“While I will not comment on all of the wild inaccuracies being speculated about in the media, I am sad to say that Halle and I have decided together to separate at this time,” Aubry said in a statement.

Following their split, things got pretty nasty. Berry accused Gabriel of child neglect and even claimed she was trying to turn their daughter white. After a bitter custody battle, a judge ordered the actress to pay $16,000 per month to Aubry, until she turns 19 years old or graduates from high school.

March 2013 – October 2015: In 2010, Berry started dating Olivier Martinez. In 2012, the duo got engaged and tied the knot in July 2013. The couple welcomed their first child together, baby Maceo, in October 2013.  But in 2014 there were rumors that the two were getting a divorce because of hectic schedules getting in the way of their relationship. But in October 2015, it was reported that the two called it quits.

“It is with a heavy heart that we have come to the decision to divorce,” the couple said in a joint statement to PEOPLE. “We move forward with love and respect for one another and the shared focus of what is best for our son. We wish each other nothing but happiness in life and we hope that you respect our and, most importantly, our children’s privacy as we go through this difficult period.”

Will also snapped some fun flicks with his son Jaden before greeting fans and speaking with reporters including HipHollywood.

He told HipHollywood that he was super excited to reunite with his Suicide Squad director David Ayer for the film, and would “work with him whenever he wants to.

“I love his madness how he creates,” gushes Smith. “How he thinks about scenes, the way he works with actors, it’s some of the best psychological work of any director I’ve ever worked with.”

In the film Smith plays an LAPD cop in a mythical world of orcs, elves and fairies … and Ayer told us, he couldn’t think of anyone better for the role.

“We had such a good time on Suicide Squad together and this role is kind of perfect for him, it’s an edgy movie, buts it’s funny. He’s got the best sense of humor of anybody I know.”

BRIGHT debuts on Netflix December 22. Peep the newest trailer below.
