As we all anticipate the return of ABC’s Scandal, a new trailer for Season 5 is giving us a little glimpse inside what we’ve been waiting for. But is it a let down?

For all you gladiators out there, you are aware that at the end of Season 4, President Fitzgerald Grant kicked his wife, Mellie to the curb … leaving one major question: Does this mean Fitz and Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) can now finish what they started?

In the new trailer, it appears as though the on-again off-again lovebirds will carry out their obsession with each other. But then again, it’s hard to tell. Needless to say, the trailer was less than underwhelming. We didn’t exactly learn anything except that some of the main characters, i.e., Mellie, Huck and Cyrus cry at some point.

No, we can’t judge whether or not Season 5 will be sensational based off the trailer … but are we wrong to have wanted more?

Scandal returns Thursday, Sept. 24 at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
