With her new fiery red hair, and of course her fiery personality, Monica is readying her eighth studio album, Code Red.

“The sound is real soulful,” the songstress told HipHollywood while at the BET Awards. “I understood that I needed to bridge the gap between the music that is current and the music that I was mostly a part of in the 90s. So I just bridged both worlds, kind of merged them together.”

When asked about a release date for the new project, Monica admitted that it didn’t have one just yet, but she did just drop a new single from the upcoming album called, “Just Right For Me” ft. Lil Wayne. Take a listen below.

Black women in America should be very, very proud!

On Tuesday night, the voting numbers from Alabama’s senate election came flying in and it was made immediately clear, that the record holding election could not have happened without the Black female vote.

Helping push democrat, Doug Jones, to victory over republican, Roy Moore, was that of Black voters residing in the southern state. According to the numbers, 92% of Black men and 97% of Black women voted for Jones.

“Black women in Alabama changed the whole game. At the end of the day, the Black vote is changing the game,” Jason George told HipHollywood on Wednesday morning during the SAG Awards announcements ceremony. “People are waking up. People aren’t just taking it anymore, they are realizing their voice do actually make a difference.”

Olivia Munn and Niecy Nash, who announced the SAG nominees, were also thankful and proud of the numbers. “Thank you to all the voters who came out to vote,” Muss said. “It just really shows the power you have if you just show up.”

Tracee Ellis Ross, who’s show Black-ish was nominated or an ensemble cast, even wrote on Instagram: “THIS ~ this is just one example of the strength and power of black women and men. this is what we mean when we say every vote matters.”

She added, “This is what is possible when you stand up and make your voice heard. THANK YOU ALABAMA FOR THIS. now let’s all get ready and mobilized for midterms.”
