Jordin Sparks Wants You To “Double Tap” Her New Music

If you haven’t noticed, Jordin Sparks is all grown up and so is her music. HipHollywood caught up with the 25 year-old singer to talk about her forthcoming album Right Here Right Now and her new single “Double Tap” feat. 2 Chainz.

“I wish I could say I wrote “Double Tap” but I didn’t.  I heard the song and I was like I have to sing this song,” explained Sparks of the track that plays off the Instagram term ‘double tap’. “It’s so right now and what a lot of girls are experiencing. Like I know you like me and you’re just going to stalk my page and you’re not going to like any of my pictures. … but it’s all in good fun.”

And fun is exactly what Sparks is having with her new music after a 6-year break. Now she’s signed to hit-maker Salaam Remi’s Sony Music imprint, and she couldn’t be more excited.

“The sound of the music is stuff I like to listen to in the car, more rhythmic R&B type stuff,” explained the former American Idol winner. “I would call this music ‘pretty music with a bump to it’ I guess.”

But if you think Sparks is singing all about her ex-boyfriend Jason Derulo, think again.
“I was recording before the break-up, during the break-up and after, so I have love songs on there, I’ve got my songs where I was feeling some type of way, I’ve got my sad songs and really sexy vibey songs as well, so theres a big mix on the record.”

In the meantime you can get Sparks’ single “Double Tap” on iTunes now.

Music’s most amazing night went down Sunday at the Microsoft Theater in L.A. and we have to say the night was all about the ladies!

That’s right the 45th American Music Awards had some major moments and some major girl power starting with Pink and Kelly Clarkson.

The duo got the show started singing R.E.M.’s “Everybody Hurts”, but it was their solo performances that had fans going nuts.

Kelly Clarkson returned to the stage and had everyone on their feet with a medley of her classic tracks and new single “Love So Soft.”

While Pink took her career to new heights leaping off the side of a building while performing her hit single “Beautiful Trauma.”

Christina Aguilera, paid tribute to Whitney Houston with a commemorative performance for the 25th anniversary of The Bodyguard.

But the #Majah moment of the night had to be Diana Ross. The Motown legend was given the Lifetime Achievement Award, and performed some of her greatest hits before accepting the honor.
