Warren Sapp Fired By The NFL Network + Released From Custody
Warren Sapp is heading home back to Florida after being released from an Arizona jail.
The former NFL star was arrested early Monday morning on charges of soliciting prostitution and assault. Sapp faced a Maricopa County judge on Monday afternoon who decided to let the 42-year-old go without bail on his own recognizance.
According to reports, hotel guests at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Phoenix heard arguing around 2:30 a.m. and what appeared to be a major fight in the hotel hallway. Eye witnesses saw two women in the hallway who claimed Sapp had assaulted them.
When law enforcement arrived, one woman admitted that she was an escort and that she met Warren at the hotel. The second woman, who left the scene, was later found and also admitted to being an escort. According to officials, the altercation was over money.
The 42-year-old was taken into custody and transported to the Maricopa County Jail where he admitted to being involved in the act of prostitution. However, he denied assaulting the two alleged victims.
Following the arrest, Warren’s contract with the NFL Network was immediately terminated. The former football star was working as an analyst for the network since 2008.
