Tyga Explains Why He Backed Out Of Role On “Empire”
Cali rapper Tyga just revealed that he almost starred in an episode of FOX’s hit show Empire, but backed out at the last minute. The “Molly” artist made the revelation during a radio interview on Power 105.1’s Breakfast Club.
“I think I’m probably going to do something on the second season, but I was supposed to be on the fifth episode,” Tyga divulged. “I was supposed to play the rapper that was Muslim … that dude that they wanted to sign, and I couldn’t do it last minute, I had a show.”
Tyga, who also used the air-time to deny rumors that he’s dating 17-year-old Kylie Jenner, claims he almost landed the role of one of the Empire’s main characters. “They wanted me to be on the show [as a regular] but they wanted artists that were unsigned so that they could own the music and that was a problem with me being signed.”
Diddy’s son Quincy also revealed he backed out of doing the show for the same reason in a separate interview with Power 105.1. “Basically, I pretty much booked the role,” he told Charlamagne Tha God, Angela Yee and DJ Envy. “Dealing with a show like that, it breaks down theatrically and musically … Theatrically, there were no complaints. They didn’t really let me know that there was a music side that came with a contract. It just took everybody for a loop because we wanted to negotiate and change a couple of things and they were like, ‘nah.'”
