Robert Mathew VanWinkle aka Vanilla Ice is calling his burglary arrest a “misunderstanding.”
The rapper was taken into custody and charged with burglary and grand theft on Wednesday after apparently stealing a number of items from a foreclosed home in Lantana, Florida. The popular 90’s artist was renovating a home nearby for his DIY show, The Vanilla Ice Project.
“It was blown out of proportion. It’s sad that good news doesn’t travel this fast,” the 47-year-old told reporters after being released from the Palm Beach County Jail. “It’ll all get cleared up, you’ll see.”
According to the incident report, obtained by HipHollywood, the burglary took place in late December. The point of contact for the home contacted police and listed these items as stolen.

The rapper later told officials that he was going to purchase the home but did not have any type of “contract or down payment of the property.” He also claimed he found several items on the curb and that he thought it was trash.

According to law enforcement, the items stolen have been retuned to it’s rightful owner.
