Nick Cannon Files For Divorce From Mariah Carey

Published

on

Nick Cannon finally pulled the trigger. After months of being separated from his estranged wife, Mariah Carey, the comedian officially filed for divorce. TMZ first broke the story, Nick apparently filed on December 12, just nearly one week after he and the Grammy Award winner reportedly worked out their settlement.

Over the summer, Nick confirmed that he and Mariah had been living separately for some time. But while the media ran rampant with reports, Cannon always seemed to defend his marriage and love for the mother of his children. “During this challenging time for me and my family it saddens me that the media can be such evil bottom feeders,” Nick wrote in a series of tweets back in September. “Because my family & I haven’t been forthcoming with personal information, people are quick to paint negative pictures and spread rumors.”

He added, “For the record I NEVER have, nor will I make a statement regarding my marriage … What infuriates me most is to hear people slander @MariahCarey. I will forever be in debted to her for blessing me with our children. I will always love her unconditionally for this and so much more.  @MariahCarey is an amazing Mother and I trust her wholeheartedly.”

Nick and Mariah spent Thanksgiving together, but apparently, things didn’t work out so well for Christmas. According to reports, Mariah made a last minute decision to not spend the jolly holiday with her ex-husband. Which now that we know Nick filed in December … it all makes sense.

Mariah appeared on The Ellen Show on Thursday and seemed to be in great spirits and might we add … looked amazing. The singer will kick off her Las Vegas residency in May.
