Mike Epps came under fire on Thursday night after posting and then quickly deleting a seemingly offensive photo.
In an image shared on the star’s Instagram account, a Black man can be seen whipping three White men (slaves) picking cotton … above the photo, there was a faded image of a smiling Martin Luther King Jr. looking down from the sky. The caption read:
“Iam so proud of you bro! Lol.”
Fans were outraged with the comedian and slammed the actor for his perceived racially incentive joke.
In what appears to be in response to the criticism, Epps tweeted:
“It ain’t what they call you…it’s what you answer to.”
HipHollywood also reached out to Mike’s camp and are waiting on word back.
Epps will be playing the late Richard Pryor in Lee Daniels’ forthcoming biopic which also stars Oprah Winfrey. “I sat with Richard Pryor about a year ago and he picked me to do it [if a biopic happens],” Mike toldHipHollywood back in October 2009. “I guess if Richard, in his spirit, allow me to do it, I’ll be doing the project.”
