Shots Fired! Azealia Banks Skewers Iggy Azalea, “Coon” TI

By  |

Rapper Azealia Banks just lit into Iggy Azalea and her mentor TI on Twitter. Banks says she’s angry artist like Iggy, who build their careers mimicking Black culture, are not supportive of Black issues and causes such as #BlackLivesMatters.

In a lengthy rant, Azealia takes Azalea to task for remaining silent today after a grand jury in Staten Island decided not to indict New York City police officer Daniel Pantaleo in the death of Eric Garner, a Black man who died after being placed in a chokehold.

“It’s funny to see people Like Igloo Australia silent when these things happen. Black Culture is cool, but Black issues sure aren’t huh? If you’re down to ride with us b*tch, you gotta RIDE ALL THE WAY. Don’t just be down to ride Black d*ck. If you with us, you WITH US!!!!

“That wannabe black girl sh*t makes me wanna throw a jar of my piss at her. Like, fill a jar with piss and mayo and eggs and just dump that sh*t on that b*tch’s head.”

Azealia also fired shots at the press who she says is trying to replace Nicki Minaj with Iggy.

“And the media needs to STOP trying to move Igloo in on what Nicki has established. Nicki is a hard-working rap-BEAST. Stop trying to degrade and BELITTLE our culture with this f*cking KKK Iggy sh*t.”

This isn’t the first time a Black artist has come for the blonde rapper. Earlier this year, Iggy and Snoop Dogg were locked in a nasty back and forth on social media that ended after TI intervened. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like TI will be able to fight this battle for his Grand Hustle artist.

“AND I DARE THAT SHOE-SHINING COON T.I TO SAY SOMETHING,” Banks added in one last all caps tweet.

When your platform is fame that is your tool for change; you have a voice and a choice for action or apathy. Ignoring the social-economical struggles and roots of Rap/Hip-Hop while reaping the benefits means you’re white-washing one of the few social-economical platforms for african americans. Black music has been a way for financial success, albeit for a lucky few, and a political voice for the marginalized. Iggy raps like a black woman and she’s successful, yet a black woman speaks in her cultural voice and she is considered illiterate, “guetto”, and “ebonic”. I have an issue with that, pay your dues and show respect! Stand in solidarity for black lives.
