Rihanna’s Father Drunk and Tossed Out of Diamond Ball?

While pictures from Rihanna’s inaugural Diamond Ball show the singer hitting the red carpet with a happy grin, we now know that behind the smile was a bit of pain.

Moments before Ri arrive at her charity event, her father Ronald Fenty had to be escorted from the premises due to his drunken behavior. In an interview with the Daily Mail, Fenty revealed that a simple stumble on the red carpet caused him to be kicked out of the ball before even seeing his daughter.

“I had Johnny Walker Black. I had two doubles man and tripped over a chair, Ronald told the Daily Mail. I had been on the [red] carpet for the pictures, I meet a couple of famous people I knew go and talked with them, and then somebody left a chair and I stepped back and fell over, I saw my ex (Monica) look up, and within a few minutes after the picture was taken, security came up and said ‘we’re taking you home’. I said ‘but I haven’t seen my daughter yet’… and they said ‘don’t matter man’.”

For Fenty, this is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to his alcohol addiction. Apparently, he’s been struggling with the illness for years resulting in rehab and an arrest. According to DM, Rih put her dad through a $58,000 Malibu rehab program last year to save him from jail after he was arrested during a previous visit to California. She also flies him to LA every three months for urine tests and has the mini-bar emptied before he arrives.

Although this has been an on-going issue, Ronald seems remorseful. “I’m sad how it ended of course, I should have never taken that first drink or any drink for that matter. I wish I had seen her of course. She will probably hear how I was and how I had a few drinks, so I guess she would be angry with me. I think she is, I’m not sure, we haven’t spoken just yet, Fenty said in response to his Diamond Ball antics.

During his chat with the Daily Mail, he also cleared up the Rihanna pregnancy rumors. “No she’s not pregnant, but I want someone to start giving me grandchildren! Of course I want to be a grandfather. All my friends in their late 40s and 50s have got grandchildren, why not me? She tell me she’s waiting on her sister Samantha. She’s 32 and married but has not had children yet,” Ronald revealed to the online mag.
