Amid the wave of sexual assault allegations, Bill Cosby has decided to step down from his position as a board of trustees member at his beloved alma mater, Temple University.

“I have always been proud of my association with Temple University. I have always wanted to do what would be in the best interests of the university and its students. As a result, I have tendered my resignation from the Temple University Board of Trustees,” the 77-year-old comedian said in a statement released on Monday.

So far, twenty women have accused Cosby of rape and sexual assault, the first of them being Andrea Constand who was the director of operations for Temple’s women basketball team. In 2004, Constant sued Cosby for allegedly drugging and assaulting her but the case was settled in 2006.

Cosby attended Temple in the 1960s and has done a great deal for the university over the years. In 1982, he became a trustee and while other universities including Berklee College of Music in Boston, High Point University in North Carolina, Freed-Hardeman University in Tennessee, and University of Massachusetts Amherst have cut ties with him already, Temple had not made any moves until Monday when it issued the following statement,  “The Board of Trustees accepts Dr. Cosby’s resignation from the board and thanks him for his service to the university.”

Though he is stepping back from his role at Temple, he has not admitted to any of the allegations. His lawyer recently issued a statement calling the claims “ridiculous” and “completely illogical.”
