Andre 3000: I Didn’t Want To Do Outkast Reunion Tour

Published

on

It’s no secret Andre 3000 and his Outkast brother Big Boi didn’t seem to be on the same page during a lot of their reunion tour earlier this year. According to Andre Benjamin, he never wanted to take to the stage in the first place.

The Atlanta rapper says he sported 47 custom jumpsuits during this summer’s tour as a way of getting excited .

“Honestly—I didn’t wanna do the tour,” Benjamin said in an interview with The Fader. “I’m like, how am I gonna present these songs? I don’t have nothing new to say.” Benjamin revealed that he came up with the jumpsuits as a way of breathing new life into the performances. “It became a theme where I was more excited about this than the actual show,” he said.

The rapper is doing an exhibit at Art Basel with the jumpsuits on display. “I felt like a sell-out, honestly,” Benjamin said. “So I was like, if I’m in on the joke, I’ll feel cool about it.”

Earlier this year, we caught up with the rapper and asked him if Outkast fans should look forward to new music from the duo. Click the video for his answer.

Clearly, it was “God’s Plan” for Drizzy to take his entire budget for his music video and spend it on various residents and workers in Florida’s hot spot city. That’s right almost a million bucks — $996,631.90 to be exact — was slotted for Drake to shoot the visuals for his latest hit but instead he used all the money to make a difference. And in doing so, he made us cry … multiple times. Just watch the video below.

In a statement the self-professed “6god” said this video was “the most important thing” he’s ever done. We’d agree.
