Tracy Morgan “Fighting To Get Better” Following Severe Brain Injury
Five months following a fiery crash on the New Jersey Turnpike, comedian Tracy Morgan is still fighting to get better.
While outside a New Jersey courtroom on Tuesday, Morgan’s lawyer Benedict Morelli told reporters that, “Mr. Morgan is a fighter. He’s fighting to get better. And if there’s a chance for him to be back to the Tracy Morgan he once was, he’s going to try to do that. But we just don’t know because of the severity of the injuries that he sustained and the fact that he had such a severe brain injury.”
Morgan was a passenger in a limo van on June 7 when Walmart driver, Kevin Roper slammed into it causing it to overturn. The crash injured several and killed comedian, James McNair.
Following the accident, Tracy filed a lawsuit against Walmart for negligence. “As a direct and proximate result of the physical injuries sustained by Mr. Morgan in the collision, he has been incapacitated from pursuing his usual employment and other activities, may be left with disabilities that will in the future similarly incapacitate him and cause him pain and suffering, and may require medical treatment,” the lawsuit states.
In response to the lawsuit, the retail giant claimed that the injuries “caused, in whole or in part, by plaintiffs’ failure to properly wear an appropriate available seat belt restraint device.”
