Sam Smith Covering Whitney Houston? Ariane Grande Remaking “The Boy Is Mine”?

Published

on

Brandy and Monica will have their hit song “The Boy Is Mine” reimagined by Ariana Grande and Jessie J. While we wish this was nothing more than a rumor, the song’s producer revealed that the updated version of the classic will drop in 2015.

“Next year is my 20-year anniversary and I’m doing a very special project. Some originals as well as reimagined hits,” Rodney “Darkchild” Jenkins said during an interview with HitsDailyDouble. “So for example, I’ll do the ‘The Boy Is Mine’ with Ariana and Jessie J.”

Sam Smith will also be getting in on covering another classic. “Sam is doing ‘It’s Not Right It’s Okay’ by Whitney Houston, which Sam told me was the song that made him want to sing,” Jerkins added. “When I asked him if he’d be a part of this project he was like, “No one else can do that song but me!” Sam’s the truth. He has a great heart and he’s genuine. His music speaks for who he is.”

“This is a project I’m really looking forward to,” the producer continued.

We’re not sure how we feel about this. Check out the original versions of both songs after the jump and let us know if you think the girls and Sam Smith can hold their own with the likes of Ms. Houston, Brandy and Monica.

Oh Gawd no! Sam is going to ruin a classic. Why remake these songs? It’s not going to do as well as the originals.

Is Trey Songz Completely Out Of Control?!

Published

on

Trey Songz used to be a singer known for sexually suggestive lyrics and his panache for saying “yuuuup.” Now, he may be known more as an R&B singer with a possible rage problem…

Trigga Trey has been accused of smacking a girl in the face with her own phone and now that accuser is suing for $50,000. The unidentified woman says that while at Philadelphia’s Vanity Grand Cabaret strip club she sought to get a snapshot with the singer, but he didn’t oblige. Instead, according to the woman, he pushed her phone back into her face and caused her glasses to break.

If true, this isn’t Trey’s first time getting way too aggressive for no d@mn reason. Just last year he became so upset over authorities ending his show in Detroit that he threw microphones and speakers from the stage. Unfortunately, he also injured a police officer in the process. In August, he reached a plea deal in that case and got his felony assault charge reduced to just two counts of disturbing the peace.

So, back to the fan who just wanted a photo. It looks like she’s only seeking coin and not criminal charges. And in Songz’s defense he does take pictures with some fans (see below), so maybe it was just the way she asked.
