Randy Jackson is officially leaving Fox’s American Idol.
In May 2013, Jackson announced that he would be leaving the judging panel to work as a mentor on the hit singing competition show. The 58-year-old, who served as a coach on Season 13, has since decided to leave the show entirely. The producer announced his departure in a statement released to HipHollywod.
“After 13 seasons, I felt now was the perfect time to leave American Idol. I’m proud to have been a part of a series that discovered some incredible artists and will go down in history as one of the most successful television shows ever,” the statement read. “A true original, Idol started it all. Onto what’s next.”
Season 14 of American Idol is set to premiere in January.
