Exclusive: Trey Songz On Supporting Chris Brown Through His Legal Woes

Published

Chris Brown and Trey Songz are two peas in a pod, bros, besties, buddies, homies and what Trey describes as “dogs.”

During the singers press conference earlier this week to announce their Between the Sheets Tour, the Virginia natives took part in a Q & A and answered questions about their music, upcoming tour and their longtime friendship. “Chris is my dog ,” Trey said. “He is probably one of the most heaviest scrutinized artist in the history of music. Everybody makes mistakes.”

“A lot of people saw how real it was a year ago when I went to court for him ,” Trigga said about attending Brown’s assault case court hearing in D.C. last October. “That was nothing for me. That’s my dog, outside of music. People go through a lot of crazy things in this game and he can speak to the test of how real that is.”

Songz added, “I just let him know as much as I can that ‘I’m here for you regardless.'”

During the Q & A, Chris, who just released his album X, opened up about his most personal songs on the LP. “A lot of the songs I got a real chance to just write and compose and come up with different ideas of what I was going through at different times. So I would say ‘Do Better’ or  ‘Autumn Leaves’,” the 25-year-old said.

And speaking of doing better, a Los Angeles judge recently praised Brown for following the new terms of his longstanding probation. Based on Brown’s behavior for the next few months, the singer’s probation from the 2009 assault on then girlfriend Rihanna could end in January 2015.

For Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson and Gina Rodriguez, the film, which also lends a voice to what is being called the year of the woman, dressing in head to toe military gear and going through tactical training was a bonding experience.

“”t was really fun. It’s weird to say that. But to have all these women in military training together, where we had to do these exercises … it was a great bonding experience with each other.” Portman told us.

And although the women had the opportunity to use real guns, firearms is not something the ladies of Hollywood advocate. “I’m anti gun to be honest,” Rodriguez said. “I say no guns. There’s no reason for people to have guns especially when you have these,” she said while holding up her firsts.

This past week Gina has been very vocal via social media about gun legislation and the idea behind policy and change following the tragic high school massacre an Parkland, Florida.
Annihilation, also starring Oscar Isaac, hits theaters on February 23.
