Last week, the lovely and talented Queen Latifah confirmed via Facebook that her daytime talkshow, The Queen Latifah Show was being canceled. The news came as a shock for fans around the nation, but for Latifah, she was well aware that putting on a successful talk show was not an easy task.
“Anyone who takes on a talk show is running the gauntlet and taking a chance,” Latifah told HipHollywood exclusively just days before last week’s big announcement. “Many of them don’t work and some do. They are very challenging to create and to create in a fresh way and garner an audience.”
Queen, who is known to inspire and change the lives of people around the world, may be saying goodbye to daytime television, but the star has much more to conquer. “The people who have tuned in have been pretty loyal to the show and hopefully we get to keep building on that and introducing that to more people. In the meantime, I’ll do some movies and some music and keep juggling other balls.”
She added, “I’ve been very fortunate to have a great fan base whose allowed me to experiment and that’s been important to who I am as a person. I need to be able to do that.”
The QL Show will air original episodes until March on CBS, so be sure to tune in Monday-Friday at 2 p.m.
