Why San Francisco Radio Stations Are Banning Lorde’s “Royals”

By  |

The lovely people of San Francisco will not be hearing Lorde’s “Royals” on the radio any time soon.

Radio stations in the city have banned the New Zealand native’s hit song until the World Series is over. In case you have been living under a rock, the San Francisco Giants will meet the Kansas City Royals in the annual championship series starting on October 21. So in order to support the Giants, the city would rather not have the words “Royals” blaring over radio waves.

“No offense, Lorde, but for the duration of the World Series, KFOG Radio will be a ‘Royals’-free zone. We’re sure you understand,” KFOG announced via social media.

“Thanks 4 your comments! will be removed from the @965KOIT playlist until the end of the World Series ,” 96.5 koit tweeted.

It’s also worth noting that Lorde owns a Royals jersey and even revealed that it was one of the coolest things she owns.
