They say imitation is the highest form of flattery, so it’s no surprise Channing Tatum is all smiles about a black version of his wildly popular film Magic Mike. HipHollywood sat down with Tatum while he was promoting 22 and asked what he thought about the upcoming flick Chocolate City. “I think it’s awesome,” said Tatum under a huge grin. “The name is so crazy … I’m like what!”
The film directed by Jean Claude Lamarre will star Tyson Beckford, Ginuwine, Darren DeWitt Henson, Vivica A. Fox, Carmen Electra and Michael Jai White. Romeo Miller was slated to star but has now been replaced by Robert Ri’chard (“One on One”) in the lead role.
We asked Tatum, who is back on set for Magic Mike 2, if he had any advice for these guys when it comes to making a strip club film. “I’ve only been to one all male black strip club and it is wildly different than anything I’ve ever been to … it is crazy I would say it is a lot more fun.”
No word on when Chocolate City will hit theaters, but we’re sure the ladies will be lining up.
