Ray Rice has finally spoken out since video of his vicious assault on then fiancée, Janay Rice, has gone viral.
In a phone conversation with ESPN, Ray says that, despite the media firestorm, he is in “good spirits”.
“I have to be strong for my wife. [Janay] is so strong. We are in good spirits. We have a lot of people praying for us and we’ll continue to support each other. I have to be there for [Janay] and my family right now and work through this.”
His wife, Janay, also spoke with the sports network saying, “I love my husband. I support him. I want people to respect our privacy in this family matter.”
Ray then spoke to CNN via text message saying, “I’m just holding strong for my wife and kid that’s all I can do right now.”
Since the release of the horrific elevator video, Rice has been let go from the Baltimore Ravens and the NFL has banned him. On top of that, the former NFL pro has lost his endorsement deal with Nike and will no longer be featured in the video game Madden ’15.
