Kim Kardashian took to Instagram on Monday night to share her reaction to the Kanye West wheelchair debacle. The reality star, who was on tour with West, blamed the media for not only blowing the story out of proportion, but for spinning it.
“What an amazing Australian tour! Its frustrating that something so awesome could be clouded by lies in the media. Kanye never asked anyone in a wheel chair to stand up & the audience videos show that. He asked for everyone to stand up & dance UNLESS they were in a wheel chair. #JustWantedEveryoneToHaveAFunNight #TheMediaTwistsThings,” she wrote, adding a video of Ye performing.
Last week, Kanye came under fire after his show in Sydney when he asked everyone in the audience to stand up unless they were handicap. When Kanye noticed someone was still sitting, he sent his security over to make sure the fan was sitting only because he was in a wheelchair. Sure enough, the fan was.
On Monday, Kanye also responded to the incident, claiming that the media is demonizing him for telling a wheelchair user to get on their feet. “They’ve got this thing where the want the masses, people who have never even heard one of my albums to read a headline that reads negative and to think that I am a bad person,” the rapper said in a rant during his show in Brisbane. “I’m a married Christian man.”
“At my concerts I make sure that everybody has as good a time as possible,” he added. “Pick a new target.”
