Kanye West came under fire on Friday night after he demanded a concertgoer in a wheelchair stand up.
West was performing at the Qantas Credit Union Arena in Sydney when he tried to get everyone on their feet. The 36-year-old stopped mid concert and ordered the crowd to stand or else he wouldn’t continue on. “I can’t do this show until everybody stand up. Unless you got a handicap pass and you get special parking and s**t,: West said, according to the Daily Mail Australia.
“Imma see you if you ain’t standing up, believe me, I’m very good at that,” the rapper added.
According to reports, one concertgoer showed off his prosthetic leg, so Kanye let him off the hook. But then, during the rapper’s performance of “Good Life” Kim Kardashian’s husband spotted someone still sitting, so he sent his bodyguard Pascal Duvierto over to the fan to make sure he was handicap.
‘This is the longest I’ve had to wait to do a song, it’s unbelievable,” he said before his bodyguard confirmed the fan was indeed in a wheelchair.
And of course, fans took to social media to address the “uncomfortable moment.”
“WE JUST WAITING ON THEM TWO PEOPLE TO STAND UP, Oh…. they ARE in a wheelchair?? PLAY THE SONG,” one Twitter user wrote.
