Sherri Shepherd’s surrogate gave birth to a healthy baby boy on Tuesday in Pennsylvania., according to TMZ.
Sources tell the news outlet that Sherri was not there to witness the birth but her estranged husband, Lamar Sally was. The insider also revealed that Sally is excited to be a “new dad and for the future ahead.”
As previously reported, Shepherd and her estranged husband have been battling over Sherri’s decision to repudiate maternity. The former The View co-host claims Sally defrauded her into having the child (via surrogate) to get child support and that he had every intention on leaving her. Although Sherri signed a surrogate contract while they were still together, the host doesn’t feel she should hold up to it.
According to reports, Sally has every intention on raising the child alone.
In July, Sherri retained full custody of her 9-year-old son, Jeffrey. Shepherd’s ex-husband, Jeffrey Tarpley accused the actress of being a terrible mother and filed an emergency request to modify the their custody arrangement. Jeffrey’s request to gain full custody of he and Shepherd’s son was not granted.
Shepherd has been dealing with a storm of emotions between the two cases, but the star continues to keep her head held high. Earlier this week, Sherri announced that she will be starring alongside KeKe Palmer in Broadways Cinderella.
“Played your mother @KeKePalmer in
#CarlinaWhiteStory …n ow I’m playing your mother again on Broadway. I love you girl! Excited & cant wait,” Shepherd tweeted on Tuesday. “Just got back from my first fitting for #Cinderella @CinderellaBway … whew they got me bustled and corsetted up. Loving it #GodIsGood.”
Palmer is the first African-American Cinderella on Broadway.
