Rapper Meek Mill is going to be behind bars longer than he expected.
The 27-year-old rapper went to court Monday and asked to be released from jail early but was instead ordered to take anger management and parenting classes. Mill is currently serving time for a parole violation from a 2009 drug and gun conviction and pleaded for an early release so that he could continue his career and support his daughter and 30-person entourage.
The Philly rapper had been on probation for almost five years in which he has not committed any crimes. According to reports, he failed a drug test in 2014 and was seen brandishing a gun in a music video earlier this year. His attorney has claimed that the drug test failure was due to OxyContin prescribed for an injury and the gun was a water pistol.
Meek Mill won’t be released until October 11 at the earliest.
