Trey Songz Drops New Album + Dishes On BET Performance With August Alsina

Just two days after taking the stage at the 2014 BET Awards, Trey Songz releases his anticipated sixth studio album, Trigga. On Tuesday morning, the singer dropped the official LP which he calls the best yet.

“The best strategized, best marketing, the most authentic musically, you know, and true to a different side of myself that everybody may not know,” he told BET about the album, which features collaborations with Juicy J, Ty Dolla $ign and Nicki Minaj. “I feel great, I have the excitement that I had around my first one, but it’s more exciting because I’m established and I know the ropes a little bit. But yeah, it’s a great feeling.”

As for feeling great, it was great to see Trey and Best New Artist winner, August Alsina mend their broken relationship during Sunday night’s awards show. During Alisina’s set, Trey and Brown joined the singer on stage for a performance of Alsina’s “I Luv This Shit” remix.

“It was an amazing moment in R&B, first of all,” Songz told theGrio. “A lot of us got caught up in August’s remarks about me early on, a few months ago. I never really got caught up in that because I know what it’s like being a young artist and have people on your a**.”

Trey continued, responding to the moment August flipped on 106 & Park host, Keisha Chante for asking about the duo’s beef. “You’re going through hell on promo trying to put your album out, you got people asking you about this guy you’re not really getting along with right now,” Songz said in Alsina’s defense. “Sometimes you slip up and say things you really don’t mean. And we had a conversation and he told me that, later on down the line. And I think it was great for the culture and for the people that really aren’t paying that much attention to see that even though we were at odds at one point in time, we came together, and to see Chris come together, too.”

Earlier this year, Trey and August had a falling out which led to Alsina speaking ill about the signer. “Like I tell people all the time, show me that you’re this person on day one … You should always be that person,” August told Rap-Up back in March. “We were supposed to have a show together and it just went left ’cause I can’t deal with ni**as’ egos and attitudes ’cause I’m just a real ni**a comin’ through and I’m rockin’.”

It looks like the duo are back on good terms … Now bring us some more music fellas.
