Sherri Shepherd Victorious In Custody Battle Over 9-Year-Old Son
Sherri Shepherd has retained full custody of her 9-year-old son, Jeffrey.
The former The View co-host faced a Los Angeles judge on Tuesday to find out whether or not her ex-husband’s request to gain full custody of their son would be granted. The request was denied and Sherri can now put that all behind her.
As previously reported, Jeffrey Tarpley accused Shepherd of being a terrible mother to their son. In court documents, Tarpley claimed that the 47-year-old’s busy schedule caused her to “neglect their son completely.” In April, Tarpley filed an emergency request to modify the couple’s current custody arrangement.
“I stand behind my character and integrity,” Shepherd told PEOPLE in June. “You can’t hold me down, I’m a wonderful mama.”
Shepherd and her estranged husband, Lamar Sally are also currently battling it out over their unborn child. Sally wants Shepherd to pay child support, but the actress claims Lamar defrauded her into having the child (via surrogate) and that he had every intention on leaving her. Although Sherri signed a surrogate contract while they were still together, the host doesn’t feel she should hold up to it.
“Sherri doesn’t want anything to do with the child and refuses to pay any child support,” a source connected told FOX411. “She is not budging and is completely detached. She feels very just in her actions and claims the child is not hers.”
The baby is due sometime this month.
