MTV Wants Beyonce To Open Up The VMAs …. Without Jay Z!

Published

on

MTV wants Beyonce to open up their upcoming video music awards solo … Meaning … Without Jay Z. But the question everyone is wondering is if the request is per MTV or per Beyonce.

A source tells The Daily News that the network wants Beyonce to perform a mix of hits from her latest self-titled album, Beyonce. “Bey is going to be all over the show,” an insider revealed. “MTV is still working everything out, but they want her to open the show with a big production, which has still not been announced.”

Per the news outlet, Colombia Records and MTV are also trying to convince Bey to shoot a few videos promoting the possible forthcoming performance.

“It’s still being worked out,” the insider revealed. “Everyone at Columbia is scurrying around to make things happen. But judging by the amount of awards she was nominated for and her past history with the show announcing her pregnancy, it’s a pretty safe bet.”

The source added, “MTV wants her and they want her solo.”

Beyonce garnered eight VMA nominations, including Video of the Year for she and Jay Z’s hit track, “Drunk in Love.”

The Queen Bey and Hov have been plagued with divorce rumors and it seems as though the rumor mill hasn’t stopped turning. Most recently, reports surfaced that the Houston native has been looking for apartments without Jay Z.

Whether or not Bey and Jay hit the stage together during the VMA’s … At least we still have On The Run.

Tune into the MTV VMAs August 24 @ 9pm ET/PT on MTV.
