By  |

What would a Whitney Houston biopic be without the sweet sounds of Whitney’s greatest hits?

As production for the forthcoming Lifetime biopic gets underway, more details are slowly surfacing about the made for television film. In new details, it’s been confirmed that fans won’t hear the voice of Whitney or YaYa DaCosta, rather … Deborah Cox!

A rep tells E! News’ Marc Malkin that “music rights and clearances are still being worked out,” but Cox will be providing the “vocal tracks.”

When news was first reported that Angela Bassett would be making her directorial debut with the television film, Cox shared a congratulatory message via Instagram, writing:

“Super super excited to hear my girl Angela Basset will make her directorial debut with the #WhitneyHouston story for #Lifetime!!!”

Ahead of the 2015 release, fans have already seen photos of YaYa as Whitney and Arlen Escarpeta as Bobby Brown. We are excited to see more!

Meh I want to hear the real Whitney! If they were going to choose someone to sing whitney music they should have asked CeCe Winans since she sounds very similar to whitney houston. Just listen to don’t cry for me and compare the two. While whitney is the better singer there voices are very similar.

Deborah sounds just as good as Whitney and can hit any note Whitney could. Whitney tone is more memorable and fuller but do not sleep on Deborah.
