Apollo Nida Sentenced To Eight Years In Prison
Real Housewives of Atlanta star Apollo Nida is going to prison for a long time. HipHollywood has learned that the reality TV star was sentenced Tuesday to eight years in prison for fraud and identity theft.
Nida will voluntary surrender at a later date.
“The government did what they had to do,” Nida said while exiting the courthouse. WAsked if he was unhappy about the sentence, he replied, “Whatever the judge gave.”
“Today’s sentencing exemplifies impartial justice regardless of economic class or perceived celebrity status. Nida’s sentence should be an eye opener for other like-minded criminals who scheme to steal victims’ identities, defraud them and ignore the consequences of their actions,” said Reginald G. Moore, Special Agent in Charge of the United States Secret Service, Atlanta Field Office, in a press release.
Nida was charged with bank fraud and identity theft back in January. According to an affidavit, Nida created fake companies, enabling him to access databases to find individuals to rip off. He opened fake bank accounts under those real names and funneled stolen U.S. Treasury checks and auto loan proceeds into those accounts.
